03 Machining Challenges
Due to the small bore diameter (∅20.04 mm), an indexable boring unit cannot be applied; therefore, an integral tool must be used for machining.
The bore tolerance is extremely tight, limited to just 0.03 mm, while additional requirements include concentricity of 0.05 mm, cylindricity of 0.015 mm, and a specified R-radius structure at the bottom of the hole.
In addition to the strict tolerance of ∅20.04 mm, the bore surface roughness must be controlled between Rz8–Rz10. Such combined requirements are difficult to achieve with conventional tools.
