Aoshiji® Custom Tool CBN Turning Inserts: Machinable Materials
Hardened steels in the hardness range of 30–70 HRC, including tool steels, alloy steels, bearing steels, and high-speed steels (e.g., SKD11).
Nickel-based and iron-based heat-resistant alloys (e.g., SCM440).
Wear-resistant cast irons and titanium alloys (e.g., TC4, Inconel 1718).
High Hardness and Excellent Wear Resistance
The hardness of CBN inserts is second only to diamond and, together with PCD tools, is classified as a superhard cutting tool. CBN tools demonstrate outstanding performance when machining high-hardness materials, offering long tool life and high efficiency. They deliver excellent surface finish, often surpassing grinding processes.
Excellent Thermal Stability
The microstructure of CBN allows it to maintain thermal stability up to 1400–1500 °C, which is more than twice that of diamond tools. This makes CBN one of the best tool materials in terms of high-temperature resistance, suitable for high-speed and high-temperature machining.
